How to Install TWRP Recovery And Root Honor 8X

BACKUP YOUR HONOR 8X PRO TO PC BEFORE ROOTING

1. Connect your Honor 8X to a Windows computer.
2. Click on the Open folder to view files option when AutoPlay popup on the PC.
3. Copy and paste the files and folders you want from Android phone to the PC.

PRE-REQUISITES BEFORE YOU ROOT HONOR 8X

1. This Guide is only for Honor 8X so don’t try this on any other device as this can brick your phone.
2. Make sure your Phone has charged 60%.
3. Now make a backup of all important files and contacts.
4. That’s all!! Now you can Follow the procedure to root Honor 8X without PC.

UNLOCK BOOTLOADER ON HONOR 8X

1. Go to this site and login via FB or create an account
2. Fill in all the fields, click Submit. You will get the bootloader unlock code, Note it down
3. Put your phone in fastboot mode (Step D) then connect it to PC via USB cable
4. A dialogue box may pop up on your Honor 8X. Just enable the checkbox “Always allow from this computer” then click ok
5. Open the “ADB FASTBOOT FILES” folder
6. Inside the folder, hold “Shift” Key then right click and select “Open command Windows here”
7. The Command prompt will open
8. Now on the command prompt, type this and hit enter.

   adb devices

9. If everything ok, In response it should show the serial number of the device. If its not showing then install the driver again and restart your PC.
10. Now type this command and hit enter

    adb reboot bootloader

11. You will that Honor 8X will go to bootloader mode. Basically it is fastboot mode.
12. Now type this command and hit enter, where XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX – unlock code received previously

    fastboot oem unlock XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

13. The Bootloader is unlocked! Now disconnect your Honor 8X from PC

INSTALL TWRP RECOVERY AND ROOT HONOR 8X

1. Switch on your Phone
2. Again enable Android debugging by going to Settings > About phone and tapping on “Build number” 7 times
3. Go to Settings > Developer options and check “USB debugging”
4. Put the phone in fastboot mode (Step D)
5. Connect your Honor 8X to PC via USB cable
6. Open the “ADB FASTBOOT FILES” folder
7. Inside the folder, hold “Shift” Key then right click and select “Open command Windows here“
8. The Command prompt will open
9. Now on the command prompt, type this and hit enter.

   adb devices

10. If everything ok, In response it should show the serial number of the device the same as before. If it’s not showing then install the driver again and restart your PC
11. Type this below command and hit enter (Make sure TWRP_Honor7_EN.img file is in ADB FASTBOOT FILES folder, change the file name in command if you are using  TWRP.IMG)

    fastboot flash recovery TWRP_Honor7_EN.img

12. Once it’s done, type this command and hit enter to reboot your Honor 8X in normal mode

    fastboot reboot

13. Turn off the Honor 8X.
14. Press and hold the button “Volume UP” and “Power” button till the vibration and TWRP appear
15. It will boot into TWRP Recovery mode
16. Now you must make a backup of your stock ROM, so click on Backup
17. Then to backup ROM,  check ON “Boot”, “System”, and “Data”.  You can also set a Backup Name and choose either Internal Storage or your external micro-SD card.
18. When done setting it up, simply swipe “Swipe to Back Up” to starting backing up ROM.
19. This backup file is saved in the Backup folder either internal or external, make a copy of this folder and keep in safe place like your PC. (You can do this after rooting)
20. Now you can root, to root go to the main menu of TWRP Recovery
21. Click on “Install,” browse BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip on the SD card, then flash it.
22. Reboot the Honor 8X. It is now rooted!
